About Warranggal Baawaa
Warranggal Baawaa means Strong Sister. We are a 100% Aboriginal-owned and Aboriginal-led mentoring organisation creating culturally grounded programs with and for young Aboriginal people. Our work centres culture, identity and sisterhood, giving young people a space where they see themselves reflected, celebrated and supported.
We build mentoring, education and empowerment programs for young people aged 5 to 24 across NSW, with plans to expand into new communities in the future. Our programs include one-to-one cultural mentoring, group sessions, professional development, cultural advocacy and community-led initiatives like the Strong Sister Scholarship. Every program is designed and facilitated by strong Aboriginal women who carry lived experience and a deep commitment to community.
Warranggal Baawaa was co-founded by Tahlia, a proud Gomeroi and Yuin young woman, and Keely, a proud Gomeroi young woman and Social Worker (Honours). Together they built an organisation where culture is not just talked about but lived, where every young woman is reminded she carries the strength of her ancestors within her. We partner with schools, community groups, organisations and government to deliver programs that create real pathways and lasting change for the next generation of strong sisters.
